Step 1: Check for a Clear Recess

Ensure there are no obstructions like handles, locks, or tiles inside the window frame. You’ll need at least 1.18" (3 cm) of clear, flat space for a proper fit.

  • Locks

  • Latches

  • Handles

How to measure window with obstruction

Step 1: Measure the Total Recess Depth
Use a tape measure and start at the front edge of your window frame (where you would mount the blind) and measure all the way back to the glass.

Step 2: Identify and Measure the Obstruction
📏 Measure from the same front edge to the front of that obstruction.

Step 3: Calculate the Usable Recess (Unobstructed Depth)

Subtract the obstruction depth from the total recess depth.

    Step 2: Measure the Height

    Step 1: Left Side
Place your tape at the very top inside the frame and measure all the way down to the sill (or where you want the blind to stop). Record this height.

    Step 2: Middle
Do the same measurement down the center of the window.

    Step 3: Right Side
Repeat the measurement on the right side.

    Step 4: Use the Longest
Use the longest of the three measurements to make sure the blinds cover the full height without being too short.

    Step 3: Measuring the width

Step 1: Measure at the Top
Place your tape measure inside the window frame at the very top.
📐 Record the exact width from one side to the other — no rounding!

Step 2: Measure in the Middle
Do the same across the center of the window.
📐 Again, write down the measurement exactly.

Step 3: Measure at the Bottom
Now measure across the bottom of the window inside the frame.

Step 4: Use the Smallest Measurement
Take the smallest of the 3 measurements — this is the width you’ll use to make sure the blinds fit perfectly without rubbing or getting stuck.

    • Only measuring once!

📏 Always measure twice (or more) to avoid errors.

    • Not checking for obstructions!

Handles, locks, or window cranks can block proper blind movement.

    • Forgetting to Measure Recess Depth

you need enough depth for the blind to fit without sticking out or hitting obstructions.
